THE IMAGE OF SCIENCE IN ALEXANDER BOGDANOV’S NOVEL RED STAR

ABSTRACT

In this short study, a forgotten Russian revolutionary Alexander Bogdanov’s Red Star novel will be analyzed in terms of science fiction characteristics as a genre itself. Respectively, the meaning of the utopia genre in the form of contemporary literature will be discussed, it will be tried to be mapped as a science fiction genre, and the orientations of the science fiction genre both in the American and Russian-Soviet traditions will be discussed as well. Then, Alexander Bogdanov’s life and intellectual-philosophical legacy will be referred. In conclusion, the Red Star work will be analyzed with respect to these theoretical perspectives and frameworks. Fundamentally, in this study, Bogdanov’s imagination of science will be described.
